I have one headlight lens on my motorhome that is yellowing. The other one
is fine. The rig is 6 years old. It seems the headlight unit would
have to be replaced and is hard to find. Does anyone have experience with
this problem.

If what you have is a Lexan/plastic cover over the bulb you can go
to any auto parts store and get what they call a Headlight Restore
Kit. Mothers aluminum polish will do the same thing but won't
last very long before it yellows again. |

We just used the restore kit on our 04 Trail Lite and it made a big
difference. |

Wal-Mart used to polish plastic headlamp lens and make them clear
again. Most every auto-body shop do. I too have tried
the cheap ones, which last only a short time. |

The Wal-Mart headlight kit I bought (also same brand at Advance Auto)
and used on my Jeep headlights a few years ago is still looking
good... well except where some idiot hit my Jeep in the parking lot.
My daughter's Jeep lights are yellowing again. I think I know
why... I wet sanded my lights far longer than she did hers.
Also one of my headlights turned out clearer than the other... again
I wet sanded the better one longer. |

Try the Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean. Works like a charm on our
1996 Dodge headlights. Hugs,

You won't believe this, but toothpaste will work too, just make sure
it's paste and not gel. I did a one headlight using toothpaste
and the other using regular rubbing compound after sanding with a
fine grit (wet) sandpaper. The toothpaste requires a little
more elbow grease but did a decent job and is really cheap when you
buy the toothpaste at the Dollar Tree The rubbing
compound does a very nice job and I followed up with polishing
compound on both headlights. I did both by hand, no power
drill and kept the surface wet. Mine look as good as my
neighbor
who bought a kit at AutoZone!
Oh, and the one I did with toothpaste smelled minty fresh ! |
